Bringing the script to life
Shayln is a wonderful director and a brilliant storyteller. We started our process by understanding the script and getting to know the feel and vibe of how the setting our story affects the emotions we illustrate for our characters. We distributed the scenes evenly between my storyboard partner and I, as we focus on our strengths and weaknesses in which scenes we can compose.
Being new to an animation production like this, I learn from my storyboard partner who mentor's and shares his experience with me. Sharing his notes and strategies on how to execute storytelling through a given script, I learn to compose, revise, check, and research if our ideas follow the director's vison, and how to simply appreciate the hard work done with every scene :)
Through virtual meetings and check-ups, we are in the process of bringing wonderful story to life!

Studies for the world we illustrate
Our story consists of scenes that take place in a local neighborhood. During our first pass of our rough storyboards, we talked through each interior detail we illustrate, adjusting and revising the accuracy of our bus, living room, kitchen, bakery and overall world of our director's vision.
As we did research and reference, we get closer and closer to bringing this story to life.
My original sketch during one of our meetings, as we get a better idea of which camera angle to use in order to fit our characters in our shot naturally.
Sketches, studies and practice on the interior of the bus.

Final Layout Design!
Through our meetings we revise, research, discuss and create as we work through each scene to finalize the storyboard to our director's vision!

Rough Animation
As the production to this short film continues, we have begun breaking down the assigned shots between each animator! Here are some examples of scenes and shots I have animated between the posing shots my partner has sent to me:
